Uses:

Ashwagandha is used in several Ayurvedic preparations along with other herbal drugs such as Laksha Guffulu, Raktawardak, Abana, etc. in the treatment of hypercholesteromia, mental disturbances, rejuvenation, clinical management of fractures, etc.

The herb is used in the Ayurvedic drug preparations, Neropar which potentiates the isometric and isotonic contraction of muscles

In Homoeopathic medicine, fresh roots are used as excellent brain and nerve tonic which tones up shattered nerves and sharpens dull memory: it is also valuable in impotency

The roots contain: Fe 0.218: K,1.87; Mg, 0.19 and Ni,0.126mg/g dry material, along with other elements, which are reported to play a significant role in the diuretic and aphrodisiac activity of the drug.

The drug in the form of alkaloid is obtained from the dried roots.it is diuretic in function and used as a tonic for general weakness for all ages.It is a common ingredient of many ayurvedic health tonics of commerce.
